In this video series, Dr. James Thornton demonstrates a range of operative cases for reconstruction following Mohs surgery on the head and neck. Each video illustrates the entire surgical process, from preoperative assessment to postoperative dressings and wound care. The series includes detailed procedures for the scalp, cheek, lip, and nose, featuring techniques such as full-thickness and split-thickness skin grafts, local flaps, and pedicled two-stage and three-stage flaps. The robust section on nasal reconstruction covers multistage forehead flaps and late-stage revisions. Additional operative videos include demonstrations of rib harvest, split-thickness skin grafts on extremities, and scalp tissue expander placement.
This series also includes lectures in which Dr. Thornton discusses his approach and principles of reconstruction; patient assessment, education, and management of expectations; treatment decision-making algorithms and reconstructive planning; discussion of the use of biologic wound healing agents; scar care and postoperative dressing; and detailed illustration discussions of cheek reconstruction and complex nasal reconstruction.
